Kite on Planet 39,739

2024
Ink, acrylic and string on vintage computer punchcards
18cm x 19cm

A series of artworks where vintage data transforms into landscapes of distant, uncharted worlds. This project melds imagination and reality, prompted by the idea that our artistic visions could reflect actual, undiscovered places. Considering the quintillion planets in the cosmos, might these envisioned scenes truly exist somewhere?

These artworks challenge conventional views by merging abstract and tangible elements, urging viewers to contemplate whether our mental creations are mere fantasies or potential realities. Using computer punch cards as a canvas, their once-functional perforations now outline a constellation of technological history.

This artistic journey probes the universe's vast, often desolate expanses, occasionally dotted by anomalies that spark hope and wonder. These unexpected features encourage us to reflect on the connections between our digital heritage and the boundless possibilities that space exploration may unveil.
