Smoke on Hahnemuhle Bristol Board (920GSM)
A6 size (10.5cm x 14.8cm)
Created with fumage — an ancient technique of using smoke and soot — these iceberg studies capture the ephemeral nature of ice. The flame's delicate touch leaves behind sooty traces that evoke the strata and shadows of these vanishing giants, echoing the earliest forms of human artistic expression found in cave paintings.

Iceberg artwork, using the ancient technique of ‘fumage’. This form of art can be found in the cave paintings of our ancestors from many thousands of years ago. By using a simple candle flame, the sooty marks formed by the fire reflect the strata and shadows of ice.
